DROPTICAL ILLUSIONS - November 18, 2013
This is my fifteenth solo album of all original songs. The opening track "True Love" is the featured single.
The album cover represents what the term "Droptical Illusions" means. It is an obvious play on my name and "optical illusions" but metaphorically it has it's own meaning. It shows how looks can be deceiving especially when it comes to artists. For example I am dressed nicely as if I am planning to be around company and sitting at a table with a candle burning. But I am alone, drinking water out of a wine glass and eating a bagel with peanut butter on it. Behind me are the musical instruments that are essentially my dinner dates. I wanted to show that stigmas and stereotypes are often not the truth. Not all musicians drink, do drugs and party. Not all rich people travel with an entourage in a limousine and wear $10,000 suits. The blending of these two types of images is the concept of what a "droptical illusion" is.
I was going for a very consistent sound song-by-song for this album and produced it as if a 5-piece band went into a studio and played all the songs live.
